Micro-Residency update: last call!
There’s a mix of anticipation, ideas simmering, and studio floors quietly preparing for a fresh chapter of making. Fold is excited for a new year approaching and new residencies on the horizon.
Applications for the 2026 Fold Micro-Residency close soon, and we’re already sitting at 13 incredible artists on the list. A mix of painters, object-makers, experimenters, emerging and experienced voices…exactly the kind of creative spread that makes a residency feel alive. Stay tuned as we introduce our new members soon.
If you’ve ever toyed with the idea of doing a residency (even the tiniest “maybe one day?”) this is a good moment to jump in. Residencies aren’t about escape or prestige; they’re about focus. They give you a door you can walk through each day with nothing waiting on the other side except your work. A space that’s yours, a stretch of time that doesn’t apologise for being devoted to making, and the kind of community energy that quietly expands what you thought you were capable of.
Being around other artists doing the same thing - showing up, trying things, failing at things, finding the next thread - it changes the way you work. Not by pushing you, but by reminding you that your practice deserves room. That momentum grows in company. That creative discipline and creative play excercise the same muscle.
So consider this your nudge. If you’ve ever wanted a window where your practice comes first, where you get to test ideas at scale, or simply reconnect with the pleasure of turning up to a dedicated space the Micro-Residency is built for that.
Applications close 15 December. All the details and the EOI form are on our website, but if your gut is already saying yes, trust that.
Fold is ready for its next wave of makers. We’d love to have you in the room.
