The Fold Micro-Residency gives artists the time and space to focus deeply on their practice within a working studio community. Across three months, participants will use Studio 5 (our large, shared desk space) to create, connect, and share.

This year’s theme, “Signature,” invites you to explore what defines your personal creative mark. Work-in-progress and portfolio pieces will be shown throughout, culminating in a final exhibition celebrating each artist’s distinctive style.

What’s Included

  • Dedicated workspace in Studio 5 (book in your time between 19 Jan – 8 Apr 2026)

  • Inclusion in work-in-progress displays and final exhibition

  • Access to Fold’s creative community and shared facilities

  • Promotion through Fold’s channels

  • No cost to artists (funded by Creative Communities)

Who Can Apply

Open to Canterbury-based artists working in any medium and at any age and stage of practice.
North Canterbury artists are especially encouraged, but visiting or international creatives are welcome to enquire.

Ideal for artists who:

  • Value a shared, community-driven environment

  • Are self-directed and committed to developing their practice

  • Can participate for a meaningful period within the residency timeframe
