Treasures of the Ashley Rakahuri River celebrated the rich birdlife of one of North Canterbury’s most significant waterways through the lens of local photographer Grant Davey. The exhibition brought together a series of carefully observed photographs capturing both the beauty and fragility of species that inhabit the river and its surrounding wetlands.
Through patient fieldwork and a deep respect for place, Davey’s images invited viewers to slow down and look closely - not just at the birds themselves, but at the ecosystem that sustains them. Shown at Fold, the exhibition sat at the intersection of art, conservation, and local knowledge, offering a quiet reminder of the natural taonga flowing through our region.
