Creative practice is stronger where makers, spaces, and audiences overlap.

Evolving practice

Elevating studio experiences

Fold started with a simple idea: Give creatives a proper place to work, show, and connect. Opening in July 2025 we ran a shared studio space in Rangiora, hosted artist residencies, and opened the doors to exhibitions that brought original art to the community.

Over the following year we showed work across a range of exhibitions and welcomed artists and curious visitors through the doors.

Whilst the dedicated space shuts the doors, the thinking behind Fold isn't going anywhere.

Ongoing Mission

Creativity Happening in Layers

Mel Eaton - artist, designer, muralist, and the person behind Fold - believes creative practice deserves more visibility than the occasional gallery opening. She established Fold to explore the gap for affordable creative co-working, accessible exhibition opportunities, and spaces where people can actually encounter art in their everyday life.

Fold is figuring out what that looks like next. Studio interviews, artist features, and new ways to get work seen are in the works.
